Having a bad crappy sad time at work.
First time I've ever been in trouble during my working career.
Can't discuss in fear a member of work use NRAS forum but it's misconduct over things I so say have said.

I got union involved, but can't help in thinking its because work colleagues don't like my special adaptions due to ra (just saying). When I returned following surgery I was asked have a got the next op lined up by colleagues and management - which I haven't.

A apart of me wants to hand my notice in because if the unwanted stress and upset.

I'm a private person should I tell colleagues that I have ra even though I don't want to (management know) I feel that people want to find ways of squeezing me out.

If this was you going through this, what would you do/how would you deal with this?
Any thoughts guys?
Thanku

Oh dear - as if the RA isn't enough to put up with on its own....

If it were me I would tell the people around me (in fact, I have) so that they are aware that I have an issue which might impinge on how I am at work and what I can or can't do.

Don't let them manoeuvre you into quitting. If it is genuinely reaching the end of the line let them be the ones to make the move - you will get more out of them financially unless you resign and go the constructive dismissal route - but that will take time and energy that you may not have.

What's your relationship with the boss been like so far? Can you sit down with him/her and have a 'clear the air' discussion?

Hi Jane

Really sorry that yiu are having crap time at work. RA is crap eh?

Let your work colleagues know about it. Explain how you feel.

We try to be 'normal', but its hard. Dont let it get to you, speak out. I understand what you are going through.

I have just joined a union - think at some stage I will need them. I love my job. Been working for 40 years, 15 years in present role and am now being made to feel useless by someone who should know better at work.

Give them hell!

Hi Jane

So sorry to hear work is not good. I was open about my condition in work, but I always worried so much when I was off with an RA flare.

I really feel for you as you shouldn't me made to feel like that. I would tell people, I think the problem with RA is that it can be hidden well, it changes from one day to the next doesn't it.

I've had RA since March 09 & have had a lot of time of over the years and have spent so much time worrying about work. On the 30th of September over half my office including myself were made redundant and now I think blimey all that worrying I did! At the end of day our health is more important.

Hope things improve

Take care

Hello Jane

So sorry to read this. If I was you I would tell them you have RA, it's nothing to be ashamed of and hide away. You've done nothing to get this illness and I am sure that you would love it to go away.

Get as much info on it as you can and make sure that you make them understand that it is not OA.

Don't even think about leaving, be brave and stand your ground.

Hope it gets sorted soon.

Take Care

Love Paula x

Just thought Jane, NRAS did have some publications on being an employee with RA and there was one for an employer. I found them very useful.

Take care

Hello everyone

I had meeting/interview formally and turns out the usual trouble maker ear wigged a conversation then twisted it and made a complaint over something that was given a sexual context by the office bully.

Was discussed senior management will decide my fate end of the week, I'm upset that this person wants to cause problems for me. It is about the kind attention that I have received by management regarding my adoptions in the work place but don't put any sexual remarks to my colleagues (me? Exactly people).

Just feel so cross and upset at working for the organisation for many years then to be escorted to an office to be read a prepared statement.

The sad thing is that is the protocol that policy in the public sector has in stone but no one has the confidence to think and adapt to each circumstance.

It's not about ra in the work place but now I have had the disclosure meeting of who made accusations and what they reported it makes it so had because it's the same bully that I have taken a grievience out against in the past for bullying me! I will try to continue but I have emailed my new superviser for a meeting regarding the bully and see what we can get in place for me/move?

After returning in recent months I just don't have the energy with ra to fight this on my own.
Done things are clearer now I know the person behind the nasty complaint.

hi Jane,

i also popped on to say i would let all your work colleagues know about your RA,

but now have an uneasy feeling for you reading your last post!

i can't begin to imagine how you must have felt being escorted out of the office and having a prepared statemtent read to you, i am glad you have your Union involved, in my day they stood for a lot not quite so sure now as i have been out of the work place for a long time.

do keep us posted i feel for you,

Suzanne x

P.S. it's amazing how one person can come into your life and totally ruin it, i have seen it happen before and i hope this person get's their comeuppance.

Jane

I have been reading your posts and think that what you are going through is just dreadful. People can be so nasty and mean. I too work for the public sector and had to fight for everything I now have with regards to a new chair and desk - you would have thought the money for them was coming out of her pocket.

I can't imagine how you are feeling - it seems underhand and possibly a case of getting revenge on you by the said person?? I hope you have a good Union Rep and an independent person you can also take into your meetings.

My new Boss is the only person in my workplace who knows I have RA so I do understand your unwillingness to tell folk as I feel exactly the same.

Please let us know how things go.

Take care.

Hello everyone.

I had a chat with my supervisor yesterday, lovely guy (he has only been in the job about a month) has a heart of gold.
Said to him don't want people to know at the moment.

The past few weeks has made my ra flare up greatly but I'm still going into work!ThumpUp

Hoping that there is closure in the next week when a senior manager reviews this, one thing that has been said off the record it should not of been allowed to of gone ahead as misconduct in the first place.

We shall see what happens.
